Student Leadership

Head Girl

Hi, my name is Molly and I have the huge privilege of being Head Girl at Buile Hill Academy this year. I wanted to become head girl ever since I started in Year 7, as I believe that the school has inspired me to lead, to be a good role model to others, and to encourage other students to do the best that they can for the future.

Here, we have the Buile Hill family. The school never fails in helping everyone explore their own potential, and the positive atmosphere that thrives here makes it easy for every student to believe in themselves. Our three school values are aspirational, respectful and proud, and I see those around me every day.

It is an honour to be able to represent Buile Hill Academy as Head Girl, although it wasn’t easy. I had to write my own speech, which included how I could help the school and why I thought I would fit the role perfectly. Then, I was filmed giving my speech out loud, for every student and teacher to vote for who they thought would fit the role. Even when things got intimidating, I knew I just had to stay confident and believe in myself.

I aspired to become Head Girl so I could inspire other students to do the best that they can. I am respectful, enthusiastic, hard-working and not afraid to talk to new people, but above all, I am proud to be Head Girl and to represent the Buile Hill family.

Head Boy

My name is Charlie Richardson-Malloy and it is my privilege to undertake the position of Head Boy: it is something that I have aspired to during all my years at Buile Hill Academy.  I understand the importance and difference a good role model can make to another person’s life, either in or outside of the school environment, and so I intend to be the best kind of influence to my fellow students that I can possibly be.

The process to become Head Boy started with an application which outlined my reasons for wanting the role and why I felt that I was the best candidate “for the job”.  The applications were then made available to students and teachers for a vote to take place thereafter.  I am honoured to have been selected, and look forward to serving the school and its people during my last year.

I am hard-working and conscientious and I thrive when surrounded by good people.  I also appreciate the need for quieter times and I’m empathetic towards other people's feelings.  I believe that I am a good judge of character and excellent reader of people; this gives me the tools I need to be able to see when people need help, a listening ear or some sound advice.

I love sport, especially football, and I’m proud to play for my school team as well as my own team outside of school.  I have won a number of awards across both teams and feel that the sport has helped me to develop into a leader.  Sport also encourages respect; I am a respectful person to all I meet, since I firmly believe that respect for ourselves guides our morals; and respect for others guides our manners.  I stand strongly by this belief, and I always encourage others to do the same.
