PSHE

Our Vision and Approach in PSHE

The PSHE department at Buile Hill provides the opportunity for everyone to learn and participate in an engaging, inclusive and people-centred learning environment where we celebrate the equal worth of all students by showing respect and integrity for all. Our approach is unashamedly excellent, encouraging both high standards and accepting no excuses, but always sharing our own truth and respecting the truth of others. Students explore the broad and essential themes of identity, society, community, family, school and future throughout their 5 years at Buile Hill, preparing them for the many important stages and experiences of life, including friendship, education, puberty, family, careers and finances. They also explore wider social questions of justice, government, human rights, power, diversity and equality. We encourage the skills of advocacy, analysis, evaluation, participation and debate, preparing students to become involved, articulate and passionate citizens of society, both now and in the future.

What our students will learn

Our curriculum is designed to meet all the statutory guidance, giving pupils a rich, deep and meaningful education that covers Health, Relationships and Living In The Wider World, at both KS3 and KS4. This enables pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future.

How you can support your child’s learning in PSHE:

• The best way to support PSHE learning is to be involved and engaged with News and other Global Events, particularly Law, Government, Conflict and Human Rights

• Students will receive retrieval knowledge homework quizzes every two weeks.

• There are many excellent textbooks, website, blogs and YouTube channels to support PSHE learning, and details of these are listed below
