We encourage all Buile Hill students and staff to think of others, each year group has a designated charity and students fundraise throughout the year to raise funds for this.
Year 7 and the LSU are raising money for the Dogs Trust, at Christmas and Easter there have been two ‘fairs’ in the LSU with raffles, cake sales, games and competitions. So far the total raised is over £1200.
Year 8 are raising money for MacMillan Cancer support, Sean shaved his head earlier this year in support of this campaign during break in the canteen in memory of his grandad, he ‘Braved the Shave’. Year 8 have undertaken various tasks from sponsored silences, guessing how many sweets are in the jar competitions throughout the year.
Year 9 are raising money for the National Autism society, they organised a fundraiser back in April which had a non uniform day, a raffle which had prizes donated from companies all over the city. This event was organised solely by children in Y9 and raised nearly £1000 for the National Autism Society as well as to fund resources for the children who are in school who have Autism.
Following the Manchester Arena Attack Y10, some of whom were at the Ariana Grande concert, hosted their non uniform charity day on 24th May. This day consisted of a massive cake sale with donated and home made cakes and the biggest raffle yet with over 70 prizes donated from local businesses and supporters. The students raised over £1000 for Manchester Together.
