Welcome to Buile Hill Visual Arts College
Buile Hill is a warm, friendly and inclusive school that cares about our pupils and all the people in our ‘Buile Hill Family’.
Our mission is to provide our pupils with a positive culture in which they all have the chance to be successful, embodied in our motto ‘Opportunities for All’. We are a school that has high expectations and aspirations for everyone!
Our pupils benefit from high quality teaching and excellent pastoral care. Pupils follow an exciting Key Stage 3 curriculum that ensures academic rigour through the EBacc but also shows a strong commitment to the arts, physical education and technical studies.
At Key stage 4 all pupils have the opportunity to follow the right qualifications for them, ensuring that all can leave well prepared for the next stage of their education or training. In addition all pupils receive the education in personal development they need to be ‘Ready! Respectful! Safe!’ through our innovative PSHE programme. Our outstanding career guidance and advice supports pupils throughout their time at Buile Hill and as a result our pupils leave us at the end of Year 11 ready for college, apprenticeships and university.
Finally, please come and visit us. We welcome visits and contact from parents and families at any time and this continues throughout the five years through coffee mornings, parent and community events and social media. Just have a look at our website and social media pages to see the amazing number of events and activities the ‘Buile Hill Family’ enjoy!
Head of School
It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as Executive Headteacher of Buile Hill Academy and Washington Academy. Both schools have incredible strengths and are collaborating closely to continually improve. My role is to ensure that pupils in both schools benefit from the very best leadership, teaching practice and personal development.
I am very proud to work with such talented staff, aspirational pupils, committed governors and supportive parents across both Academies. I hold my core beliefs of inclusivity and providing the very best educational opportunities central to all I do, as I strive to ensure the best for our pupils and the communities that we serve. I will always ensure the very best professional development opportunities for the dedicated staff that I work with within the Academies, who continually go above and beyond for our pupils.
As part of my role as Regional Director working strategically within Consilium Academy Trust, it is a privilege to implement the values shared by Trustees and the organisation as a whole. Young people are at the centre of all of the decisions that we make; this is highlighted in the Consilium Charter (please refer to the Consilium page of our website to view this) and we all value this unique offer of inclusion, a broad, rich and deep curriculum with enriching cultural capital opportunities highly.
I am very excited about all of our eight schools working together to share the best practice and opportunities for everyone associated within Consilium.
